Formerly the San José Repertory Theatre, the Hammer Theatre reopened in March 2016 as a distinctive, high-quality performance venue in the heart of downtown San José. Operated by San José State University, the theatre serves the university and the community through high-quality programming expressive of the unique characteristics and diverse cultures that comprise Silicon Valley.

Wheelchair seating is available in both Orchestra and Balcony sections.
Assistive listening devices are available for patrons with impaired hearing, free of charge, at the Box Office window. Patrons are asked to leave a photo ID to check out the listening device.
We welcome service animals, but no pets please! While Emotional Support Animals or Comfort Animals are often used as part of a medical treatment plan as therapy animals, they are not considered service animals under the ADA and are therefore not permitted in the theatre. Thank you for your understanding.
Convenient parking is available nearby at the 2nd and San Carlos Garage. There’s a $5 flat-rate after 6:00 pm seven nights a week and all day Saturday or Sunday.
