EARTHSONGS: Song & Dance (Santa Cruz)

EARTHSONGS: Song & Dance (Santa Cruz)

Presented by The Choral Project at Peace United Church of Christ

The Choral Project concludes its 22nd season with a concert that combines music and movement. Featuring dancers as well as showcasing the choir’s “choralography,” this theatrical concert will be a mighty marriage of sight and sound. Repertoire features music from Broadway shows NewsiesOnce on this Island, West Side Story, and Sister Act, as well as classical favorites, such as Rene Clausen’s magnificent “A Jubliant Song,” and Joshua Shank’s sublime “Musica animam tangens” plus the West Coast premiere of Dominick D’Orio’s “Change My Sorrow Into Song,” co-commissioned by The Choral Project.

This three-concert weekend also includes songs from the winners of the Rachel Moore Student Composition Contest – Kunal C. Gala from North Andover, MA; Hamid Alipor Shirazi from Bojnurd, Iran; and Cathryn S. Davis from St. Paul, MN.
