WINTER'S GIFTS :: Journeys (Palo Alto)

A time honored tradition, “Winter’s Gifts” is a celebration of the season as told through the glorious voices of The Choral Project and the moving music of the San José Chamber Orchestra.

The Choral Project and the San José Chamber Orchestra (Barbara Day Turner, conductor) join forces for their annual wintry musical offering on the theme of “journeys” — a program that will explore where we are and where we wish to be (physically, emotionally, and spiritually). The repertoire will include music from cultures and faith traditions from around the world. Highlights include Randall Thompson’s beautiful “Road Not Taken,” Joshua Shank’s breathtaking arrangement of the Basque carol “Gabriel’s Message,” and Gabriel Fauré’s sublime “Cantique de Jean Racine” — long considered one of the loveliest choral works ever penned.
